ABOUT THE PVR
The ISSF ProActive Vessel Register (PVR) enables tuna vessel owners to identify themselves as active participants in meaningful sustainability efforts, such as implementing specific best practices.
To make informed decisions, tuna purchasers and other stakeholders can consult the PVR for information on hundreds of vessels worldwide, using these symbols as a guide:
![]() |
Green checkmark means the vessel implements the PVR measure |
![]() |
Red X means the vessel does not implement the PVR measure |
![]() |
Circle symbol means the vessel’s implementation of a PVR measure is currently pending |
N/A | Means the column is Not Applicable to the vessel |

The PVR is organized by vessel type: Purse seine (PS), Longline (LL), or Other (which includes Pole & Line, Handline and Troll). You can search the PVR by vessel name, vessel IMO/UVI number, RFMO region or PVR measure and also view historical data by clicking on the “History” column. Hover your cursor over column headings to see brief descriptions.Vessel owners must read the PVR Terms and Conditions, which include sanctions for failing to provide required information. They must also use the Vessel Removal/Replacement Form to report sunk, scrapped, or transferred large-scale purse seine vessels currently on the PVR.
