Document: ISSF 2016-16: Implementation of Pilot Projects to Explore the Market Viability of Full-Retention of Non-Tuna Species in Purse Seine Fisheries

This is the report of Phase 2 (2015-2016) of an ISSF study (ISSF 2014-12: Exploration of Market Viability for the Full Retention of Non-Tuna Species in Purse Seine Fisheries) on tropical tuna purse seine fisheries. In Phase 2, outcomes of pilot projects suggested for implementation in Phase 1 were monitored and reviewed. RFMO retention policies and bycatch marketing developments, especially in the WCPO and the Indian Ocean, also were considered. Pilots were evaluated, and recommendations for the ISSF Scientific Advisory Committee were prepared.
