Ana Justel-Rubio, M.Sc.

Research Assistant

At ISSF, which she joined in 2014, Justel-Rubio co-authors and manages the publication of technical reports, analyzes fisheries data, designs and builds databases, and provides other research support.

Ms. Justel-Rubio is pursuing a Ph.D. in management of tropical purse-seine tuna fisheries at the Universidad de Alicante in Spain, where she received training in sustainable fisheries management. She also has an M.Sc. in geographic information systems from ESRI, an M.Sc. in quality and information management from Servicios Normativos in Spain, and a B.Sc. in environmental science from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She also completed programs in data mapping and geographic information systems from the Institutio Geográfico Nacional in Madrid.

Before joining ISSF, she worked for the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), an RFMO, as a technical research assistant in the Atlantic-wide research program for bluefin tuna (Grande Bluefin Tuna Year Programme, or GBYP). In 2010-2011, she was a research assistant in two endangered-species conservation programs at WildCRU in the Oxford University Zoology Department.
